Apprentice Jasmin suspended 12 months

IPOH,  9 Jan 2009

Jasmin bin Rosli has become the second rider in a week to be suspended for returning a positive urine swab.

His urine sample taken on Dec 21 at the Penang Turf Club returned positive to “Phentermine”.

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter on today at the Perak Turf Club. Evidence was taken from Jasmin, in the presence of his master, trainer Cecil Robert, Prof. Dr Tan Soo Choon, the chief analyst, Usains Holding Sdn Bhd, and Dr Lam Yee Yoon.

After considering all the evidence, Jasmin pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) and the particulars of the charge were that a urine sample coded “J-0860” submitted by him on Dec 21, 2008 at the Penang Turf Club, on analysis, revealed the presence of “Phentermine”, which is a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

Jasmin was suspended for a period of twelve months with immediate effect from today and to expire on Jan 8, 2010, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.

Last Friday, jockey Jai Shankar was found guilty of the same charge after his urine returned positive to “Dextromethorphan & metabolite” and suspended 12 months.
