New kid on the block Jerome
Tan tasted success for the first time since his debut last month when he
saddled MAN WITH HONOUR to victory in a Class 5 - 1200m sprint here today.
With Yudanyl Aify in the
saddle, the six-year-old got the better of RICH MAN'S WORLD and company
after a tussle to in by three quarters of a length.
It was a comeback victory
for MAN WITH HONOUR (Scenic - Elle's Belle by Snaadee) who had shown promise
early in his career when he won a race each in 2006 and 2007. Today's
success was his first in 23 months.
Tan, a former assistant
trainer to Roslan
Pawanteh, was granted stables by the Penang Turf Club and a licence by the
MRA soon after Roslan died from a heart attack in June.
Tan, 42, started out as a syce with Cecil Robert in
Penang in 1996. He also served under Tan Hor Khoon and Lionel Lee at Kranji
before returning to Penang to join Roslan.
