Jerome Tan saddles maiden winner

MAN WITH HONOUR returns to scale with
Aify astride

New kid on the block Jerome Tan tasted success for the first time since his debut last month when he saddled MAN WITH HONOUR to victory in a Class 5 - 1200m sprint here today.

With Yudanyl Aify in the saddle, the six-year-old got the better of RICH MAN'S WORLD and company after a tussle to in by three quarters of a length.

It was a comeback victory for MAN WITH HONOUR (Scenic - Elle's Belle by Snaadee) who had shown promise early in his career when he won a race each in 2006 and 2007. Today's success was his first in 23 months.

Tan, a former assistant trainer to Roslan Pawanteh, was granted stables by the Penang Turf Club and a licence by the MRA soon after Roslan died from a heart attack in June.

Tan, 42, started out as a syce with Cecil Robert in Penang in 1996. He also served under Tan Hor Khoon and Lionel Lee at Kranji before returning to Penang to join Roslan.
