Kellady suspended three months

SINGAPORE,  23 Nov 2009

Jockey Matthew Kellady was today suspended three months for his handling of PINK CHEETAH in the Graduation - 1600m event at Kranji here on Nov 8.

PINK CHEETAH (Desert Sun - Swift Sally by McGinty), trained by Steven Burridge, set a brisk pace, then folded up in the home straight to finish seventh to HIGH NOON.

The inquiry into the running and riding of PINK CHEETAH the above-mention race was concluded today.

Kellady, the rider of PINK CHEETAH, was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that whilst riding PINK CHEETAH, he allowed his mount to set an unreasonable pace and made insufficient effort to prevent it from doing so.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the nature of the charge. Kellady was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months with immediate effect from today to Feb 22, both dates inclusive and was advised of his right of appeal.
