Knuckey finally off the mark in Singapore

Six weeks and 82 rides later, Perth jockey Peter Knuckey finally booted home his first winner in Singapore when he partnered MARCO KID to victory in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1400m sprint at Kranji today.

Settling just off the pace, MARCO KID (Keltrice - Tristram Power by Sir Tristram) came with a well-timed run in the home stretch to win comfortably. It was the gelding's second win in seven starts.

"It’s been a hard battle over the last six weeks,” said Knuckey. “I came in here cold and just had to learn the way the system works. A lot of the jockeys ride for stables so I have been forced to spread myself around a bit.

I’m learning about the tracks all the time but I especially love the Polytrack. I still learning about the horses and the way the jockeys ride, but it’s been a great experience."

QUEEN'S AVENUE (Hurricane Sky - Madiera by Grosvenor), who scored back-to-back wins at the beginning of last year but has started only four times since, bounced back to form to win the last race to pay $482 for a win.
