Legrix ends riding career
on winning note

Jockey Eric Legrix had a
fairy tale ending to a magnificent career in the saddle when he scored on
the aptly-named SPARKLE in his very last ride at Kranji here today.
The Frenchman flies home
tomorrow to try his hand at horse training after being in the saddle for 28
years.
Legrix parked SPARKLE
(Adjudicating - Doral Fontaine by King Glorious)on the outside of the early
pacemaker TERMINATOR ATTACK on settling down and took a narrow lead at the
half-way stage.
SPARKLE never surrender the
lead after that. She fought back gamely when challenged at the top of the
straight and eventually kicked clear in the concluding stages to win by 1
1/4 lengths.
"It
is a dream come true, said the 44-year-old Legrix. It was the perfect way
to finish my career. When I came here two years ago, Takaoka and Big Valley
Stable provided me with my first winner in Singapore and it was fitting that
they send me off with a winner at my last ride.
