Bonny Ng back in the trainer's ranks

SINGAPORE,  2 Sept 2009

Former trainer Bonny Ng Yuen Peng is making a comeback to the racing scene, but as assistant trainer attached to Cecil Robert.

Ng, who bowed out in 2004 after saddling two winners that year, has been granted an assistant trainer licence for the remainder of the 2009 season.

In the wings to join the trainer's ranks are Laurie Laxon's current assistant Theodore Ruben Keiser and Dubai based trainer Aditiyan Umesh Kumar Selvaratnam.

Their applications for professional trainer licences have been officially registered by the MRA and have six months till Feb 28 to scure stabling facilities at any of the four associated clubs.

Selvaratnam, a 48-year-old Sri Lankan, has applied for 30 stables at the Selangor Turf Club.

In anticipation of his imminent move here, Selvaratnam has already flown in 12 of his horses from Dubai last week.

Apprentice Mohd Eirwan bin Khalid, who landed his biggest race last Sunday when he partnered TRIPLE LUCK to victory in the Astro Wah Lai Toi Sprint Trophy, has been granted a professional jockey licence for the remainder of the 2009 season.
