Legrix granted MRA licence till end 2010

SINGAPORE,  23 Nov 2009

French jockey Eric Legrix has been granted a MRA licence for the rest of the 2009 season and the 2010 season.

The former Hong Kong based rider enjoyed a successful season in Singapore last year when he rode 26 winners to finish 11th in the table.

Legrix has ridden just seven winners in Singapore this season and of late has enjoyed some success in Malaysia where he has appeared 42 times for five wins, riding mainly for last season's champion trainer Johnny Lim.

Lim is again leading the table with just over a month before the season ends. He has saddled 45 winners, three more than John McGillivray.

With his MRA licence in place, Legrix is expected to be a regular figure on both sides of the causeway from now on.

Two former jockeys, however, will be switching role.

Asogan Thangaraju, who retired from the saddle after drawing blanks in 2006 and 2007, is now a stable supervisor attached to trainer KM Noordin in Penang.

Sheryl Cheam, who quit riding this season after booting home two winners last year, has also been granted a stable supervisor permit and she will be attached to Desmond Koh in Singapore.
