||
David McGillivray is back as professional racing steward with the Malaysian clubs, a post he held prior to him leaving for South Africa in 2006. However, a little more than a year later, Irish born McGillivray was back in Malaysia as the chief stipendiary steward on Nov 1, 2007, following the departure of David Fisher to Macau. On Jan 20, McGillivray was attacked by two men on a motorcycle who slashed his forearm with a machete at a carpark in Ipoh, nearly severing his muscles, tendons, ulnar nerve and arteries. McGillivray has been on medical leave since. During his absence, his deputy Soo Lai Kwok acted as the chief stipendiary steward and he too was attacked while having lunch on his way from Penang to Kuala Lumpur in April, although not Also during this time, the professional racing steward's position fell vacant following the departure to Malcolm Marsh. Now, McGillivray is filling that post with effect from tomorrow. Meanwhile, Soo is acting as chief stipendiary steward until a new man is recruited. |
