Brazilian rider Joao Moreira showed just why
he is a four-time winner of the Sao Paulo jockey's title when he landed a
treble in just in fourth meeting in Singapore.
Moreira, here on a six-month riding contract,
delighted punters when he took MISSION IMPOSSIBLE (Ustinov - Parisienne
Belle by Paris House) to his first win since May last year and immediately
earned praise from trainer Stephen Gray.
"We need more quality riders like him. He gave the horse a lovely ride and
punched him out at the right time."
A race later, Moreira
timed his run to perfection again to score on LOOK AT ME (Made Of Gold
- Pheroz Mystery by Tate Gallery), who was benefitting from the use of
blinkers for the first time, in the Restricted Maiden - 1200m event.
But Moreira produced his best ride of the
afternoon when he brought HAPPINESS COME (Anabaa - Minerva by Military
Plume) from a long way back to land the Class 3 - 1600m handicap, winning by
a nose.
A modest Moreira
said of his treble: "I was lucky to get three good rides and get them in
very good positions during the race.
I
always try my best and it's a great pleasure to get my first treble here. I
also have to thank the trainers and owners for the amazing support they have
given me since I came here." |
