Good Nature wins first Table Race

IPOH,  7 Mar 2009

GOOD NATURE, winner of five races last year, made a winning start to the season when he captured the first ever Table Race event over 1600m here today.

Table Race is a set weight event for horses in Classes 1, 2 and 3.

GOOD NATURE (Way Of Light - Tears We Cry by French Deputy), who won his last outing in Class 2, trashed his rivals by five lengths to give champion jockey Azhar Ismail his second winner of the day, having taken the opening event on DENDROBIUM (Scenic - Toorak Flyer by Don't Say Halo).

Benny Woodworth, who came second in the championship last year, followed suit with a double astride PERFECT GOLD (Made Of Gold - Melody Wave by Bluebird) and CIZEN SUPREME (Lord Ballina - Celestar by Vain Promise).

The wins brought their tally to nine for the season and they are now just two wins behind the leader Harmeet Singh Gill, the champion apprentice last season.

The other Table Race today, staged over 1400m, was won by KINGSTON CITY (Kbenjar - Whiskey Heart by Heart Of Darkness), who upset the topweight, multiple classic winner GOLDEN ACE.
