New outfit Partner Stable,
which is coming into racing in a big way, scored their first success when
NEW TARGET romped to an easy victory in the Da Ma Cai Stakes (Class 4 -
1100m straight course) here today.
Costing A$150,000 as a
yearling, NEW TARGET (Iglesia - So In Need by Nediym) raced seven times in
Australia for two wins in South Australia, including one at Morphettville.
Stepping up on an
eye-catching third in his debut early this month, NEW TARGET proved too good
for his rivals when he romped home by two and three quarters lengths.
Meanwhile, Kevin Coetzee
and Azhar Ismail, last season's champion trainer and jockey respectively,
combined to score a treble and in the process took over the lead in their
respective tables.
They were successful with
ROLLING HIGH (Snaadee - Shy Sadie by Trempolino), who ended a series of
minor placings to register his second win, SPEEDY FIRE (Belong To Me -
Mustang Sally by Zabeel), a maiden winner in his second start, and SPEEDY
TIGER (King's Best - Sister Mammy by Jackson Square), who recorded his
fourth win in 14 starts.
