Raul returns to scale with YS
Lim astride |

RAUL, winner of the
Singapore Gold Cup at his peak in 2004, showed that there is life left at
the ripe old age of 10 when he triumphed in the RM250,000 Astro Wah Lai Toi
Charity Cup over 2000m here today.
Facing just four rivals,
RAUL (Hideyoshi - Whisper To Me by Beau Sovereign) was simply too strong for
the others on the rain-soaked track when he won by 15 3/4 lengths, giving
young apprentice Lim Yeok Seng the biggest win of his career.
JOKER GENERAL (Honour And
Glory - Almurdita by Almurtajaz) finished second, ahead of BOOTS AND SPURS
(Flying Spur - Honeymoon Suite by Tolomeo).
RAUL, who cost just
A$21,000 as a yearling, won eight races in Singapore but after two fruitless
seasons in 2007 and 2008, he was transferred to Malaysia where he has now
chalked up three wins.
Immediately after the Coronation Cup, the
Perak Turf Club announced the cancellation of the remaining five races due
to the adverse track conditions.
