Apprentice Sabrina Abdul
Kadir's long search for her maiden win in Singapore ended today when she
piloted LIM'S GLORY to victory in the Class 5 - 1100m sprint on the
polytrack at Kranji.
She had gone 82 rides
without success prior to this afternoon. Early this year, she went down
under for a three-month stint in central Queensland where she booted home
six winners.
But today's victory was one
she'll cherish as LIM'S GLORY is trained by her master John Meagher.
LIM'S GLORY (Gilded Time -
Elyria by Geiger Counter) mastered the odds-on favourite after a tussle to
win by three quarters of a length for his fifth win in 52 starts.
"I’ve
got to thank everyone for their support and encouragement," said an elated
Sabrina. "It’s a big relief to finally get it over with. I must admit I was
starting to wonder if it would ever happen."
:Crossing
the line I didn’t know whether to cry or yell. It was just a great feeling
to finally have achieved the win."
Meanwhile, New Zealand
riding sensation James McDonald concluded his two-day stint with a double,
including a chance mount on RECYCLE KING (Viking Ruler - Penny Arcade by
Straussbrook) in the Class 5 - 1600m handicao.
McDonald, who had a win
astride NOBLE MANOR last Friday, started the afternoon on a winning note,
scoring on BIG MINAKO (Black Minnaloushe - Reining Stars by Star Way).
