Apprentice Salemon Saad has
been disqualified one year after returning a positive urine test last month.
At the conclusion of an inquiry at the Penang
Turf Club today, evidence was taken from Salemon in the presence of his
master, trainer KP Hoy, Prof Dr Tan Soo Choon, the chief analyst, Usains
Holding Sdn Bhd, and Dr Parmjit Singh a/l Kuldip Singh, the Penang Turf Club
medical officer.
After considering all the evidence, Salemon pleaded guilty to a charge under
MRA Rule 136(3)(b) and the particulars of the charge were that a urine
sample coded “J-0868” submitted by him on Feb 14, 2009 at the Penang Turf
Club February Meeting 2009, on analysis, revealed the presence of
“Methamphetamine & metabolite”, which is a prohibited substance under the
MRA Rules.
In deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Salemon’s
mitigating factors and his previous record. Salemon was disqualified for a
period of one year with effect from March 4 and to expire on March 3, 2010,
both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal. |
