Super Gold strikes in Committee's Prize

SUPER GOLD took advantage of a huge drop in the weights compared with his recent outings to register a shock victory in the Group 3 S$200,000 Committee's Prize over 1600m at Kranji here todday.

Winner of three consecutive races early in the season, SUPER GOLD (Golden Snake - Gold Patriot by Made Of Gold) finished on board in all three legs of the Three-Year-Old Challenge and finished third to WAIKATO in the Group 3 Jumbo Jet Trophy last time out.

Weighted to carry only 50kg today, SUPER GOLD quickly settled in second spot and took the lead at the top of the straight with the co-favourite and topweight ANY HUMOUR in hot sursuit.

But the huge difference in weights told in the end as SUPER GOLD cleared away to win. WAIPAPA (Align - Chateau View by Crested Wave) provided a late scare when finished strongly to be just half-a-length behind. ANY HUMOUR (Danewin - Damasta by Ogygian) held on for third.

It the first group win for trainer Sam Chua and jockey Alan Ng. Chua said he is looking forward to run SUPER GOLD in the Derby next year.
