Jockey Adam Fiezan and
apprentice Lee Koon Lim were both suspended three months today at the
conclusion of inquiries into separate cases involving them.
After taking evidence from Fiezan, the rider
of ULTIMATE GLAMOUR, and trainer Ng Kok Hoong, Fiezan was found guilty of a
charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the
stewards on Apr 12 at the Selangor Turf Club meeting when the six-year-old
finished third to RORT THE SYSTEM in the Dato Ronald Khoo Teng Swee Trophy
(Classes 1 & 2 - 1200m) at the Selangor Turf Club on Apr 12. The particulars
of the charge were that between the 400m to the finish, he failed to display
his normal vigour to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of
this case, Fiezan’s points of mitigation and his record. Fiezan was
suspended from riding in races for a period of three months with effect from
Apr 27 and to expire on July 26, both days inclusive. He was advised of his
right of appeal.
Lee was hauled up after his urine sample taken on Apr 5 at the Selangor Turf
Club returned positive to “Furosemide”.
Evidence was taken from Lee, in the presence of his master, trainer Peter
Lee, Ms Chan Sue Hay, senior analyst, Usains Holding Sdn Bhd, and Dr Lam Yee
Yoon.
After considering all the evidence, Lee pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA
Rule 136(3)(b) and the particulars of the charge were that a urine sample
coded “J-2477” submitted by him on Apr 5 at the Selangor Turf Club April
Meeting 2009, on analysis, revealed the presence of “Furosemide”, which is a
prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.
When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of
this case, Lee’s points of mitigation and his clean record. App KL Lee was
suspended for a period of three months with effect from Apr 11 and to expire
on July 10, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal. |
