Razali disqualified, Din Azis suspended

Two riders have been sidelined for returning positive urine tests in Singapore.

Urine sample taken from apprentice Musa Razali on April 17 revealed the presence of Dextrorphan / Dextromethorphan.

At the conclusion of an inquiry yesterday, Razali, in the presence of his master, trainer DR KC Yeoh, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule of Racing 136(3)(b) in that on A[ril 17, he presented himself and fulfilled his riding engagements at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting that day, during the course of this Meeting, he provided a urine sample which upon analysis was found to contain the presence of Dextrorphan / Dextromethorphan, in excess of the threshold limits in the rules and thereby defined as a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules of Racing.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, the nature of the prohibited substance and guilty plea. Razali was disqualified for one year with effect from Monday to May 24, 2010 both dates inclusive and was advised of his right of appeal.

Jockey Din Azis, who grabbed the headline in April when he won the Selangor Gold Cup on KIKO'S RETURN, will be out of action for three months from Monday.

An urine sample provided by the jockey on April 11 in Singapore revealed the presence of Ephedrine. This was just the day before riding KIKO'S RETURN to victory at Sungei Besi.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, the nature of the prohibited substance, guilty plea and the fact that medication had been prescribed by a Medical Practitioner, which contain Ephedrine. Din Azis was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months with effect from Monday to Aug 24, both dates inclusive and was advised of his right of appeal.
