Abeyant impressive winner in debut

ABEYANT (Exceed And Excel - Launda by Mr Prospector) scored a runaway win in his debut in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1200m sprint at Kranji here tonight to give Australia's Patinack Farm a flying start to their Singapore venture.

The three-year-old colt, a winner from seven starts in Australia, is the first runner owned by Patinack Farm, owned by rags-to-riches owner Nathan Tinkler, in Singapore.

ABEYANT, ridden by Francis Berry, was caught wide early but eased back as the field settled down. It took him a while to get going at the top of the straight. Once he opened up, he quickly dashed to the front and won drawing away by three and a quarter lengths.

ABEYANT was the second leg of a double for Berry who took the opening event on MAGIC SKY (Magic Winner - Rough Patch by Rigoletto).
