Afriend returns to winning form

SINGAPORE,  March 19, 2010

AFRIEND, who is a half-brother to the 2008 Lion City Cup winner CAPABLANCA, chalked up his second win in five starts in the Class 4 - 1000m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight to give trainer Don Baertschiger his third win of the evening.

AFRIEND (Danroad - Ahava by Southern Appeal) was a runaway winner in his debut last September and has since registering three placings before returning to the winner's circle with John Powell in the saddle.

Powell also combined with Baertschiger to win the Class 4, Div 1 - 1100m sprint with JUST A MAN (Testa Rossa - Make My Dane by Danehill). It was the third win in seven starts for the three-year-old who had cost A$130,000 as a yearling.

Baertschiger had opened accounts with CHILLI (Hussonet - Absolute Lure by Lure).
