Resuming after a let-up,
RACE AHEAD has grown from strength to strength this season, and now the
Four-Year-Old series culminating in the Derby in July is very much on his
radar.
A double last month was
followed by a record-breaking win in the Benchmark 89 handicap over 1700m on
the polytrack at Kranji here today.
Ridden by Olivier Placais,
RACE AHEAD (Al Akbar - Mertie Love by Spectacular Love) settled behind the
pacemaker, then drew away in the home straight to win by 2 3/4 lengths in a
time of 1:44.48, better the previous mark of 1:45.8 set by GOLDSCHATZ last
year.
RACE AHEAD won four of his
13 starts last year and has clearly benefited from a four-month break since
early November.
