Former champion jockey
Azhar Ismail returned from a three-month suspension under the demerit system
and quickly made up for
lost time to boot home a double in Penang today.
Azhar resumed with a
vengeance when his very first ride, WINNING WARRIOR (Jeune - Sparkling by
Crystal Palace) coasted to a runaway win in the open race.
The eight-year-old had
three previous wins but his last success was in January 2007 and was racing
after a four-month let-up.
Azhar, who rode FLYING
SWALLOW (Johannesburg - Cousine by Anabaa) to two placings early in the
season, made it third time lucky when the four-year-old mare broke through
for her maiden in nine starts.
Meanwhile, INCREDIBLE KING
(C Mo - Carrie Dee by Robin des Pins) made it four consecutive wins with a 3
1/4-length win in the Class 4 (Banded 39-49) - 1400m handicap.
