Azhar Ismail is in pole
position going into the final weekend of the racing season next week after
booting home a double at the second day Penang Turf Club gold cup meeting
held in Sungei Besi here today.
Azhar, who drew level with
Noel Callow at the top of the jockey's table yesterday after his win on GOOD
PLANNING, had an armchair ride on FLYING CAT (Tale Of The Cat - Miss Chakra
by Marscay) who romped home by eight lengths in the Da Ma Cai Stakes, Table
1 - 1700m event.
It was the fifth win in 12
starts for the four-year-old and his third in his last four outings.
Azhar then had to work
overtime to bring SPEEDY TIGER (King's Best - Sister Mammy by Jackson
Square) home just ahead of JOINT EFFORT who was going for his fourth
consecutive win.
SPEED TIGER, who had four
previous wins, has not won since April last year and was racing for the
first third time after a long spell this year.
