Leading jockey Azhar Ismail
was a spectator most of yesterday when he had just two rides while his
nearest challenger Noel Callow returned from a trip home to put three wins
on the board.
Azhar, however, responded
to the challenge in the best possible way when he booted home five winners
from seven rides at Sungei Besi here today to hit 51 wins for the season,
eight clear of Callow.
Azhar was unstoppable from
the moment he took his first mount on SHADOW WIND (Black Minnaloushe -
Madamax by Stylish Century) who returned to winning ways after 32 months to
record his second win.
Azhar followed up in the
next three races to win on debutant GOOD BABY (Hussonet - Secret Haze by
Danehill); former Singapore galloper GENERAL CONSPIRACY (General Nediym -
Conspire by Turtle Island) who was having his third start in the country;
and GOOD PLANNING (Elusive Quality - Bylaw by Lear Fan) in the Kelang Silver
Bowl.
Azhar signed off one of his
best afternoons with another success on SPEED EAGLE (Canny Lad - October
Miss by Octagonal) who made it two wins in two starts.
