Berry starts new season with a bang

Irish jockey Francis Berry, who sat out the New Year's Day meeting when his only nominated ride was scratched, has started the new season on a winning note when he took PINA COLARDA to victory in the Class 4 - 1800m handicap at Kranji here today.

From a wide draw, Berry was able to find the fence and that, according to trainer Leslie Khoo, was the key in PINA COLARDA's victory today. "Last time out, he was caught wide and ran out of gas in the home straight."

It was the second win in seven starts for PINA COLARDA (Show A Heart - Carnegie Rock by Carnegie), purchased for just A$15,000 as a yearling.

Khoo has started the new season best of all. A win on new year's day was followed by two today. Earlier, Khoo took the opening event with SUPREME GENERAL (French Deputy - Lavishly by Sunday Silence).
