Although BETTER BE THE ONE won five races when racing as COMMON INTEREST in Australia including the listed Festival of Racing Stakes at Flemington for Lee Freedman, the gelding did not quite live up to his price tag of A$485,000 as a yearling.

But BETTER BE THE ONE (More Than Ready - Common Smytzer by Snippets) could realize his potential in Singapore where he has now won twice from two starts after his runaway win in the Benchmark 97 - 1200m sprint at Kranji today.

Now trained by brother Michael, the four-year-old cruised to a 3 1/4-length win, the win coming on the heels his three-length win on the polytrack early this month.

"When he was with Lee, he was pretty aggressive, but after he was gelded, he was able to relax better, and he should be able to see out longer trips," said Michael Freedman.

BETTER BE THE ONE was the third leg of a treble for Vlad Duric who earlier on scored on newcomer ERNIE HARRIS (Castledale - Bobby Harris by Bletchencore) and SCIPIO (Caesour - Darishka by Darhsaan).
