With just seven racing days
left in the season, Noel Callow has thrown a challenge to Azhar Ismail with
a double at Sungei Besi here today to close the gap on the leading jockey.
Callow, a former champion
jockey at Kranji, started the day on a winning note, scoring on I AM THE
BOSS (Aucash - Curvaceous by Zabeel).
The ASussie, who partnered
DIRHAM (Fastnet Rock - Crimson Sakura by Bite The Bullet) to his last start
win last month, then combined with the four-year-old again to win a Class 4
- 1600m handicap.
The double brought Callow's
tally to 50 for the season, just four behind Azhar who has just one unplaced
ride today.
Meanwhile, newcomer RAMZ (Fusaichi
Pegasus - Eajaab by Tragic Role), who managed just two placings in seven
starts in Australia, made a winning debut in Malaysia by cruising to an easy
win in the Novice - 1200m sprint.
