It was obvious, the Captain was in charge!

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS (Verglas - Shathor by Tirol), the best horse in Malaysia since FREE SPIRIT, made a meal of his rivals in the RM1 mil Astro Wah Lai Toi Sprint Trophy when he made all the running to win by 12 lengths.

While the rest of field struggled to keep up in the soft going, the four-year-old hardly raised a sweat in the set-weight contest.

In the corresponding meeting last year, CAPTAIN OBVIOUS easily won the Magic Millions Classic, after having captured the Malaysia 3YO Championship.

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, who cost trainer Chong Keng Leong just A$24,000 as a yearling, has now chalked up eight wins and four placings in as many starts, and is on course to match or even better FREE SPIRIT's achievements.

One person who was obviously proud of the exploits of both horses is their breeder John Andrew who was on course to witness the event.

"He was a nice yearling and we always thought that he will do well on the track. I still have the dam and hopefully we will produce more like him (CAPTAIN OBVIOUS)," said Andrew.
