Always Certain get the prize in record time

ALWAYS CERTAIN

ALWAYS CERTAIN, who twice finished second to BETTER THAN EVER in the three-year-old series earlier in the year including the Group 1 Singapore Guineas, found his moment of glory when he captured the Group 3 S$200,000 Committee's Prize, an open handicap over 1600m at Kranji here today.

At four the youngest runner in the line-up, ALWAYS CERTAIN (Not A Single Doubt - Akarana by Akaaber) had to do it the hard way. Second last in the early running, he was dead-last of 15 runners at the halfway mark.

But rider Danny Beasley merely bidded for his time and the Michael Freedman-trained ALWAYS CERTAIN charged home between horses inside the fina 250m to win drawing away by 1 1/4 lengths in a new course record time of 1 min. 33.85 sec.

It was his fifth win in 14 starts and he has been out of the money only twice, and Freedman is now seriously considering setting for the Singapore Gold Cup in November.
