Conflair wins 3YO championship final

CONFLAIR showed too much class for her rivals to win the RM300,000 Da Ma Cai Malaysia 3YO Championship in style here today.

With her regular rider Oscar Chavez in the saddle, CONFLAIR (San Luis - Rennaisance Girl by Danasinga) handled the soft going exceptionally well to romp home by 3 3/4 lengths in the 1200m sprint, held for only the third time.

The inaugural running in 2007 saw another mare ISHBILIYA (Akhadan - Ginger Raja by Devaraja) walking away with the grand prize while CAPTAIN OBVIOUS (Verglas - Shathor by Tirol) triumphed last year. (The race was not held in 2008 due to equine influenze outbreak.)

CONFLAIR, a half-sister to CONSONG who is also raced on Confidence Stable, raced in New Zealand as SAN AGNES, chalked up a second and a fourth in two starts.

She won her debut in one heat of the championship in Kuala Lumpur last April and has gone on to register one more win and a second since before today's grand final.
