Two horses trained by Wong
Kong Fatt have been disqualified from their races after returning positive
swabs and Wong was fined a total of RM40,000.
FISHING (Captain Rio - Assonnata by Soviet Star) finished fifth to KNIGHT
GREG in a Class 5 - 1200m sprint in Penang on Jun 23 while CONSONG (Align -
Rennaisance Girl by Danasinga) ran second to DASHING HERO in a Class 4 -
1400m handicap on the same day.
At the conclusion of an inquiry here today, evidence was taken from Prof Dr
Tan Soo Choon, the chief analyst, Usains Holding Sdn Bhd and Dr Alistair
Murdoch, the senior veterinary surgeon of the Perak Turf Club and Wong.
Wong pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA
Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that he accepted to run
“FISHING” which ran fifth placing in Race 1 on Jun 26 at the Penang Turf
Club June/July Meeting 2010 and its post-race urine sample subsequently
returned positive to “3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan”, a prohibited substance
under MRA Rules.
Wong also pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with
MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that he accepted to
run “CONSONG” which ran second placing in Race 7 on Jun 26 at the Penang
Turf Club June/July Meeting 2010 and its post-race urine sample subsequently
returned positive to “3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan”, a prohibited substance
under MRA Rules.
In deciding on penalty, the stewards took into consideration Wong’s
mitigating factors, his previous record and the nature of the drug involved.
Wong was fined RM20,000 under each charge and was advised of his right of
appeal.
In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), FISHING and CONSONG were both
disqualified from their respective races and the results will be amended
accordingly. |
