Fadzlei suspended three months

KUALA LUMPUR,  Jun 14, 2010

Apprentice Fadzlei Ismail was today suspended three months for his handling of WHO DARE WINS who finished second to GOLDEN MIGHT in a Class 3 - 1200m handicap at Sungei Besi on Jun 6.

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of WHO DARE WINS here today. Evidence was taken from Fadzlei in the presence of his master, trainer Johnny Lim.

Fadzlei pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that whilst riding WHO DARE WINS in this race, between the 400m mark to the 250m mark, he failed to ride his horse with sufficient vigour to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of this case, Fadzlei’s points of mitigation and his record. Fadzlei was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months with effect from today and to expire on Sep 13, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
