Fradd wins Darwin Cup on Shout Out Loud

DARWIN:  Aug 2, 2010

Robbie Fradd, who skipped two Singapore race meetings over the weekend to ride in the final two days of the eight-day Darwin carnival, was the toast of the Northern Territory capital when he won the A$165,250 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup over 2000m at the Fannie Bay racecourse here today.

Fradd, who only resuming riding recently after serving a suspension, got off to a perfect start last Saturday when he won the A$17,750 Penang Turf Club Handicap (1600m) on MCKECHNIE (Over - Frills by Danehill).

After that the South African found one to beat in his three remaining rides of the day.

Fradd again had a winning start to his Cup day programme today when he scored in his first ride on PICLESIA (Iglesia - Picture Play by Command) in the A$27,800 Schweppes Handicap (1600m).

Fradd had a fourth and a second in his next two rides before ending the afternoon scoring on SHOUT OUT LOUD (Ne Coupez Pas - Hit Your Kick by Serheed) in the Darwin Cup.

The South Australian raider beat the favourite HAWKES BAY (Black Hawk - La Belle Coquette by Bellotto) by a short head, ending his Darwin carnival campaign with three wins and a third in as many starts. HAWKES BAY was also the runner-up in the same race last year.

Trained by Kerry Petrick at Gawler, SHOUT OUT LOUD also made it to the carnival last year, finishing in the money in all his five runs including the Northern Territory Derby and the Darwin Guineas when he went down to HAWKES BAY in both races.
