Nippon General takes charge in Cup

NIPPON GENERAL (Magic Of Money - Citidelight by Citidancer) has returned to racing this season stronger than ever.

After a five-month break, the four-year-old finished second in his seasonal debut in Ipoh last month. Obviously benefiting from the outing, the Mohd Sukri-trained horse stepped out up on that run to capture the RM125,000 Tunku Abdul Rahman Anniversary Cup for Malaysian breds over 1400m here today, once again ridden by Yudanyl Aify.

NIPPON GENERAL, a RM50,000 purchase at the 2007 sale, won his debut in 2008 and had two wins last year before he was spelled. Aify has partnered him in all his four wins.

Azhar Ismail, who won the first race yesterday on his return from suspension, was again on target in the opening today, winning on LAUGH HEARTILY (Umatilla - Blevic Lass by Blevic), a horse he has ridden to success twice before.

EAGLE (Changalang - Unbeatable by Casual Lies) chalked up his fourth win in 12 starts with a runaway win in the Da Ma Cai Stakes (Class 3 - 1700m).
