After going through the
last two seasons without success, FAST GIRL (formerly ORANJESTAR) is finally
living up to her name.
Since breaking through for
her maiden win last April, the five-year-old has been consistent, chalking
up three consecutive placings before slaying a strong field to win the
RM60,000 National Stud Farm Sprint Vase over 1100m on the straight course
here today.
Up against fellow graduates
of the National Premier Sale, FAST GIRL (Magic Of Money - Fashion Star by
Posen) overcame a 'wide' barrier (20 on the straight course) to win by 3/4
length.
Azhar Ismail, riding on a
stay of execution (one-month suspension for careless riding), continued to
chase Noel Callow at the top of the jockey's table with an early double
astride LADY KILLER (Stromberg Carlson - Dancer's Glory by Danzatore) and
EASY FLYING (One Cool Cat - Pegarah by Grosvenor).
Callow, however, replied
with success on MASTER JIANGMEN (Citidancer - Emerald Grey by With Approval)
to maintain status quo with the score at 35-32.
