Gust blows rivals away in course record time

GUST, with eight wins up to 1600m but has never raced beyond that distance, created a big upset when he captured the Marsiling Classic Stakes over 1800m on the polytrack at Kranji here today.

In the process, the six-year-old set a new course record time of 1:52.20, shaving 0.23 off the previous mark held by BUMBLE BEE who incidentally started favourite but managed only to finish sixth of nine runners.

GUST (Langfuhr - Green Genes by Celtic Swing) was only last month transferred to Tan Hor Khoon and today was his third start for the trainer.

GUST was the only ride of the day for Mark Ewe, Singapore's leading apprentice for the past two years. It was also his biggest win to date.
