HUNGARIAN broke through for
his maiden win in the Novice - 1200m sprint at Sungei Besi here today to
provide his connections with significant milestones.
Unplaced in six starts in
Singapore, Brazilian bred HUNGARIAN (Ghadeer - Budapeste by Roi Normand) was
quickly transformed to winning material by Sri Lankan trainer Adityan
Selvaratnam who was formerly based in the UAE.
It was his first winner
since relocating to Malaysia late last year and his sixth runner on the
local circuit.
HUNGARIAN was only recently
sold to Farooq Racing Stable who have provided Selvaratnam with the bulk of
horses in his transfer to Malaysia.
Completing the cast today
was Macau based Brazilian jockey Fausto Durso who is riding as a guest
jockey for the first time in Malaysia.
Given his recent form in
Singapore, HUNGARIAN was neglected in the betting and paid RM221 for a win.
It may be the year of the
Tiger, but it was SKY DRAGON BIRD (Blackfriars - Caitie-Eb by Dalmacia) who
soared to the first win of the lunar new year with a hard-fought win in the
opening event today.
