Just a week after making
his debut, trainer Alvin Tan saddled his first winner when
POWERFUL TREE scored in a thrilling finish in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1100m
sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight. It was his seventh runner in
three race days.
POWERFUL TREE (St
Petersburg - Centenaire by Centaine) picked up two wins and two placings
from five starts last season when trained by Sam Chua.
Tan, a former assistant to
Chua, took over POWERFUL TREE in the new season and it was the gelding's
first start since mid-November when successful over the same course and
distance.
Im just so excited, said
Tan. It is such a surprise to get a winner so early in my career.
I thought in the last 50m that he (POWERFUL TREE)
would get run over, but thankfully he held on, added Tan who has 16 horses
under his care currently.
