BRILLIANT LEGEND, a veteran
of 88 starts whose last win came almost 12 months ago, sprang the biggest
upset of the Malaysian season so far when he captured the opening event here
today.
Ridden by Anandan
Subramanian, whose only partnership with the ten-year-old was when
the gelding made his debut in June 2003, BRILLIANT LEGEND (Langfuhr -
Molokini by Molokai Prince) won by a half a length to pay RM1,076 for a win.
It was his ninth win.
SPEED BABY (Fastnet Rock - Twisted Heart by
Distorted Humor), who cost Eastern Stable A$280,000 as a yearling, made it
three wins in three starts to win the last event today.
After four consecutive placings, SPICE MASTER
(Top Echelon - Vicheno by Blevic) broke through for his maiden win in the
Restricted Maiden - 1400m sprint.
The day's racing included a simulcast of the
Japan Group 1 The February Stakes over 1600m from the Tokyo Racecourse.
