Richard Lines steals thunder with five winners

KUALA LUMPUR,  Jun 12,2010

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, as expected, won the RM250,000 Sports Toto Trophy for four-year-olds but it was trainer Richard Lines who stole the thunder with five winners from a card of ten races at Sungei Besi here today.

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS (Verglas - Shathor by Tirol), who started odds-on, made it seven wins and four placings in 11 starts when he won comfortably by one length.

Lines, who is enjoying his best season since 2004 when he finished second in the table with 34 wins, took the opening three races with the help of jockey Oscar Chavez.

AMAZING GRACE (High Chaparral - Torrance by Geiger Counter) and REICHSMARK (Rock Of Gibraltar - Great Shack by At Talaq) were both first time winners while CONFLAIR (San Luis - Rennaisance Girl by Danasinga) made it two wins in three starts.

Lines then combined with leading jockey Noel Callow to win with BILLY BOY (O'Reilly - Gilded Saint by St Hilarion), who completed a hat-trick and HUSONIC (Hussonet - Galroof by Maroof), who was racing after a spell.

The wins brought Lines' tally for the season to 22 and he is on course to better his previous best haul.

Chavez landed his fourth winner of the afternoon when successful on GOLAN HEIGHTS (Golan - Imps Love by Spectacular Love).
