Mok off the mark with Famous Than U

FAMOUS THAN U holds off MY DAY to give trainer Mok Zhan

After coming close a number of times, trainer Mok Zhan Lun finally broke through for his maiden success when FAMOUS THAN U captured the Maiden - 1600m handicap at Kranji here tonight.

Mok, a former assistant to Susumu Nigishi, took over FAMOUS THAN U (Thorn Park - Miss Brownie by Redoute's Choice) from the Japanese trainer when he was granted his A licence last December.

It was FAMOUS THAN U's fifth start under Mok and the 11th start for the gelding who had cost A$280,000 as a yearling.

After the race, Mok paid tribute to his team and the owners who "have supported me so early in my career."

He was also quick to thank trainer Stephen Gray for his success as he had started out under Gray. "He was my mentor and he taught me well.”
