Moreira claims new MRA riding record

Joao Moreira, who has already set a new riding record at Kranji, established another milestone when he partnered RAPIDO STAR to a runaway win in the Restricted Maiden - 1100m sprint today.

Success on the American two-year-old was the Brazilian's 116th for the season, surpassing the previous MRA record of 115 set by Saimee Jumaat in 1998 when the four turf clubs in Malaysia and Singapore took turn to host meetings.

Last month, Moreira bettered Noel Callow's Singapore riding record of 106 wins set in 2006.

RAPIDO STAR (Safe In The USA - Yen by Lure), twice trial winner at Kranji, stepped up on that form to win by 6 1/4 lengths in his racing debut today.
