There is no home ground
advantage for Penang based trainers in this Penang Turf Club October Meeting as it is held
at Sungei Besi due to the closure of the main track in Penang for major
repairs.
But that did not stop them
from winning five races from a card of nine today, adding to the three they
won yesterday.
It was a remarkable effort.
During the six-week break in racing in Malaysia due to a Strangles case,
their charges saw no action at all whereas Selangor Turf Club held two
novelty meetings for their home based horses.
Cecil Robert started the
ball rolling when former Singapore galloper PEGASUS ROYAL (Fusaichi Pegasus
- Royalivor by Sir Ivor) ended a 36-month drought to win the opening event.
JOINT EFFORT (Blackfriars -
Hollywood Touch by Citidancer) followed up on his last start success to win
again for trainer Dr Tan Swee Hock.
Jerome Tan then came into
the act with back-to-back wins with last-start winner HAPPY & SMILE (Niello
- Private Lady by Flying Spur) and TWO OF SPADE (Al Jadeed - Patient by
Doctor David), a first-time winner in 15 outings.
Tan Joo Hock rounded up a
good day for Penang trainers when he saddled last-start winner ASIAN CLASSIC
(Kenfair - Efflorence by Grosvenor) to another victory.
