Champion sprinter ROCKET
MAN made a triumphant return to racing when he once again out-gunned his
rivals to win the Kranji Stakes A event over 1200m on the polytrack at
Kranji here today.
Sidelined since June
with a condylar
fracture of the off-side cannon bone which was subsequently operated on with
screws inserted, the Patrick Shaw trained four-year-old never gave his
rivals a chance, as he led from pillar to post to win by four and a half
lengths.
Unbeaten in seven starts
until he finished second to Hong Kong's SACRED KINGDOM in the KrisFlyer
International Sprint last May, ROCKET MAN (Vicount - Macrosa by McGinty)
will be aimed for the Group 1 US$2m Dubai Golden Shaheen next month. Then,
it back to Singapore for a possible rematch with SACRED KINGDOM.
Joao Moreira, due to start
serving a three-day suspension for careless riding from tomorrow, shot to
the lead in the jockey's table (on 13 wins) when he booted home four
winners: GIRO (King Of Kings - Escambia by Dolphin Street), SEAN (Van
Nistelrooy - Trio by Deputy Governor), DRUNKEN FIST (Shovhog - Virginia
Beach by Vain) and PINA COLARDA (Show A Heart - Carnegie Rock by Carnegie).
Former
jockey-turned-trainer Leslie Khoo landed a career first treble with DRUNKEN
FIST, PINA COLARDA and GOLDEN NUMBER (Jeune - Island Drum by Turtle Island).
