Consistent galloper POWERFUL RULER, formerly racing as TYCOON RULER, earned a crack at the Queen Elizabeth II Cup later this month with a game victory in the Kranji Stakes A - 1800m at Kranji here today.

Unplaced just once in 17 starts — winning six times — before today, POWERFUL RULER (Viking Ruler - Capsimation by Kaapstad) proved a shade too good for PINA COLARDA, and ended the winning run of GOLDSCHATZ who was aiming for his sixth consecutive success.

POWERFUL RULER was the third leg of a splendid treble for Saimee Jumaat who is gaining momentum with every meeting since resuming after a suspension last month.

Meanwhile, trainer Steven Burridge's good run continued with a treble of his own to bring his tally to 28 for the season, six ahead of Laurie Laxon at the top of the standings.
