Malaysian based apprentice
Ruzaini Supien is making waves since making a dream debut on the local
circuit last September.
The Perth trained lad won
his very first ride in Malaysian and soon after had Singapore trainers
calling for his services. He went on to chalk up 16 wins in Malaysia and six
in Singapore for the season.
Ruzaini has started the new
season in the same vein, having booted home two winners in Malaysia.
But in Singapore, he is
coming in for increasing support from trainers. So instead of riding in
Penang today, Ruzaini elected to stay back after last night's meeting at
Kranji.
The decision hit pay dirt
when he landed a good-priced double on ESPOSITIO (King's Best - Ashkaleta by
Ashkalani) and SMOKING JOE.
The former had not won
since his last victory in January last year.
SMOKING JOE (Danetime - See
The Gold by Mr Heneysee) followed up on his last start success to win the
RDA Cup for Class 2 horses over 1400m.
The staging of the RDA Cup
for the second year running is to lend the Riding for the Disabled
Association of Singapore the platform to raise much need funds.
With the wins, Ruzaini
moves up to joint fourth in the table in Singapore with five wins, two
behind Vlad Duric and Joao Moreira with seven wins apiece.
