A hairline fracture to the
off-fore leg has ruled the Herman Brown-trained Bankable out of the Group 1
S$3m Singapore Airlines International Cup (SIA Cup) on May 16. The injury
was sustained following a working gallop in Dubai on Sunday.
Bankable, third behind Gloria De Campeao and Presvis in last year’s 2000m
contest, was a last-start second to another SIA Cup contender AL SHEMALI in
the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free in March.
The six-year-old Irish-bred gelding had been under an injury cloud all week
after the hairline fracture was diagnosed through the use of scintigraphy.
Meanwhile, the Michael Freedman-trained Ntini has been called up for the
Group 1 S$1m KrisFlyer International Sprint, bringing the number of
Singapore runners to four and the total field up to 10 runners in the 1200m
sprint.
From 19 starts at Kranji, five-year-old Ntini (Johannesburg - Delia by
Geiger Counter) has scored five times, including one at Group 3 level, the
Singapore Four-Year-Old Sprint over 1200m last July. |
