TURF SPEC reasserted her
superiority among her sex when she triumphed in the RM70,000 National Stud
Farm Silver Tiara over 1200m here today.
At the end of last season,
the four-year-old captured the RM150,000 NSF Queen Of The Turf run over
1400m in Penang.
Racing for the first time
since, TURF SPEC (Magic Of Money - Bonhomie Gal by Bletchley Park) was
beaten a neck by NIPPON GENERAL in the RM125,000 Tunku Abdul Rahman
Anniversary Cup for Malaysian breds early the month.
Benefiting from the outing,
TURF SPEC, ridden by Azhar Ismail, made amends to win the fillies and mares
contest today for her third win in 13 starts.
Apart from this victory,
Azhar had a disappointing afternoon when he failed to win either one of the Malaysia 3YO
Championship heats on odds-on favourites GOOD SIGHT (Lonhro - Bonne Famille
by Anabaa) and HOT BUTTERFLY (Fastnet
Rock - Laguna Lake by Odyle).
GOOD SIGHT, placed three of
four starts in Australia, was a well-beaten third behind FOUR ACES (Kempinsky - No Can Boo by Canny Lad), trained by John
McGillivray.
HOT BUTTERFLY went down by
half a length to GUANGZHOU STAR (Dane Shadow - Magma by Jade Hunter) who is
trained by Ng Kok Hoong.
