Superb performance in Classic Stakes

Unheralded SUPERB put some of the big names in Singapore racing to shame when he won the A$150,000 Yew Tee Classic Stakes over 1800m at Kranji here today.

Although the five-year-old has won seven times since making his debut in 2008, SUPERB (High Yield - Love Dream by Fairy King) has not greeted the judges since October last year.

Coming up against, amongst others, two-time Singapore winner EL DORADO and champion racemare JOLIE'S SHINJU today, it was not surprising that SUPERB started the race at long odds.

JOLIE'S SHINJU as usual set the pace but came under pressure at the top of the straight. And SUPERB, settled just behind her early, shot to the front 300m out and raced away to win by three lengths in course record time of 1:46.31, shaving 0.58 secs off the previous mark set by Super Gold earlier this year.
