Two former Singapore
gallopers scored stunning comeback victories at Sungei Besi here today,
joining a long line of horses who have found a new lease of life across the
causeway.
STAR WINGER (O'Reiller -
Carolina by Carolingian), unplaced in seven starts at Kranji but now trained
by Richard Lines, resumed after a 12-month layoff to win a Class 4 - 1400m
sprint to pay RM814 for a win. It was the second highest payout this season
after the RM1,076 returned by BRILLIANT LEGEND in Ipoh last February.
KEPT SECRET (late Triple
Seven) also found success in Malaysia in his second outing in the country in the Class 3 - 1400m sprint.
Three months after
registering his fourth win at Kranji in January last year, KEPT SECRET
(Secret Savings - Light Of Erin by Palace Music) was out of action for nine
months. On resuming early this year, he fared badly in four outings before
heading north to trained Cecil Robert in Penang.
Ridden by Noel Callow for
the first time today, KEPT SECRET, who managed three placings in seven runs
in Perth before coming to Singapore, paid RM163 for a
win.
Leading jockey Callow went
on to win the next race on NEW POWER (My Halo - Zingla by Danasinga) to
bring his tally for the season to 40, three clear of Ahzar Ismail who had
scored on HOT BUTTERFLY (Fastnet Rock - Laguna Lake by Odyle) earlier in the
day.
