MR TIMELY, who showed
promise with back-to-back wins including one on the polytrack earlier in the
season, bounced back to form with a gutsy win in the Japan Racing
Association Trophy here tonight.
Ridden by Danny Beasley in
the Benchmark 89 - 1200m sprint, the five-year-old tracked joint favourite
MAPLE STAR from the start and wore him down to win by half-a-length in a
blanket finish. The other joint favourite OVER THE RAINBOW was a smack-up
fourth.
MR TIMELY (Street Cry -
Snowcisco by Aceway) had a late start to his career. He was unplaced in one
run at three, then registered a third and win over 1000m at Mornington in
two outings at four in Australia before moving in to Singapore where he has
now won four times in nine starts. Beasley has partnered him in all his four
wins to date.
Former champion jockey
Saimee Jumaat had his best meeting for a while when he booted home three
winners, beginning the night with back-to-backs on STEVEN (Elusive City -
Goodwood Jazz by Night Shift) and SCOOTER MAN (My Halo - Danalaydee by
Danasinga).
Saimee then took BIGGEST
SECRET (Secret Savings - Beam by Scenic) to a runaway win in the last race
of the evening, with the three-year-old now unbeaten in three starts.
